Hoo boy this is gonna take some time to grok. I trounced the AI in 2x very easy vs me + medium. But 1v1 vs an easy computer proved a lot tougher. I pushed him good, but just as my available time ran out, it started to push back pretty dang hard. This game is not built with an eye to the entrant, I agree with that assessment. There are no tutorials, no easily located manual, no premade decks that can be browsed or chosen. For the people already playing the thing for a year or so, these are non-problems. For those just buying in, quite a barrier to entry.re.
Unit placement, you shouldn’t have to babysit them. Hectic void lyrics. Just point them to the right treeline, support them properly and they should sort themselves just fine. I think I even saw a “seek-cover automatically” toggle button in the orders panel. The game looks and sounds spectacular. I bought two units of Katyusha and they were fucking terrifying!
Half speed is the most realistic setting for wargame red dragon really. No way any infantry unit can sprint at 30kph. Now 15, that is remotely realistic. This one only has full speed and bullet-time it seems. Or is that half-speed as well? Either way, I found the game quite playable on the 2v2 map in “real time”, but then I’m used to the helmet fires eugen likes to inflict on its players. What I’m not used to is how all the machines and tools mesh together. Way different from WG:RD. I never found time to ‘learn’ Steel Division 1, so I don’t have that going for me.Anyway, I whipped up two decks, one with the finest stuff Russia made vs the crappiest crap the nazi’s have.
Put the AI on easy. Managed to run out of infantry near the end, but won a “minor victory”.Strangely, in the middle phase I was kicking the fascists in the nuts hard. But somehow he fielded something in the C phase that kicked my ass. A tiger tank and a whole bunch of flak.
Flak that also blew the fuck out of my glorious T-34-85s.Looking forward to getting gud at this. I like a challenge. I also like playing Soviet vs the nazis. Feels right to me.The graphic of a plane going down is nice.
Even with a -40% discount on the general deluxe edition. I assume using GOG means i can't register it on steam as an external game (like it's possible with a physical copy of a game). Anyone also got an idea how updates are applied via GOG?
Somehow even better than some of the flight sims I fly. Schurem:A tiger tank and a whole bunch of flak. Flak that also blew the fuck out of my glorious T-34-85s.I counter flak and AT guns with Arty. I try to have several well supplied guns on standby for whenever one of these units pops up. Remember to relocate the guns periodically to avoid counter-battery fire the AI will throw (and try to counter-battery the AI arty as often as possible)Tigers are harder. Try to use cover/concealment/smoke to move up close as possible then attack all at once. This is best when you can prep them with a little Arty and even better if you can attack from multiple directions so some units can get shots into the flanks.
